Vice President of Sports and Special Events

Lisa Motley is vice president of sports and special events for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada that also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center, one of the largest convention centers in the United States.

In her role, Ms. Motley led the team to secure four NFL tentpole events including Pro Bowl, Draft, and Super Bowl LVIII, as well as the 2028 NCAA Men’s Final Four. She was also instrumental in securing numerous international soccer matches, NCAA championships, and the development of youth, amateur, and esports strategies.

Ms. Motley joined the LVCVA in 2016 as a sports marketing and special events manager, was promoted to director of sports marketing and special events in 2017 and again to senior director of sports and special events in 2021.Prior to joining the LVCVA, Ms. Motley served as director of marketing for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where she developed the marketing and digital strategies for the property’s 10 tracks and 1,400 event days including NASCAR and NHRA national events

Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Ms. Motley graduated from the University of Minnesota and has lived in Las Vegas for 24 years.

The LVCVA is charged with marketing Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide and with operating the 4.6 million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center. With 156,000 hotel rooms and 15 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space in Las Vegas alone, the LVCVA's mission centers on attracting leisure and business visitors to the area. The LVCVA also owns the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop, an underground tunnel designed by The Boring Company and the Las Vegas Monorail, an elevated 3.9-mile system with seven stops throughout the resort corridor.
