For more than 70 years, the Las Vegas News Bureau has captured the sights and sounds of the world’s leading destination like nobody else, promoting Las Vegas by documenting unforgettable images on film. From the Rat Pack to Muhammad Ali to Celine Dion and U.S. presidents, the News Bureau’s images have appeared in media outlets across the globe.
Originally founded in 1947, the News Bureau serves as a resource for national and international news organizations and plays a key role in marketing Las Vegas as a division of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The Bureau works with news agencies to maximize exposure of events by capturing photos and video of special events, entertainment, attractions, and hotels in Las Vegas, as well as the Southern Nevada destinations of Laughlin, Mesquite and Boulder City.
While its primary function is documenting and distributing images to the news media, the News Bureau shares its archival photo and film collection with the public through year-round community exhibitions (see schedule below). An active preservation program safeguards this rich and living archive of Las Vegas history for future generations.

LAS VEGAS LINEUP
"Las Vegas Lineup" ” is a collaboration between the Las Vegas News Bureau and the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. The photo collections at both institutions contain thousands of unidentified photographs of people living in Las Vegas, visiting the city and guest appearances by unidentified celebrities. The goal of the exhibit is to have current Las Vegas visitors and residents attempt to identify some of these unknown photographs by leaving their guesses and suggestions in a locked ballot-style box. The original exhibition has been highly successful, with hundreds of positive identifications.
