One of the most fascinating aspects of Las Vegas is that it is a city that is constantly changing. The excitement of continuous re-invention and rapid growth has helped Las Vegas to achieve popularity, resulting in 39.7 million annual visitors. In 2013, visitors will see and experience more in Las Vegas than ever before. Here are some highlights of what to expect this year and in the very near future. 




Terrible's Hotel & Casino has begun the property's transition to a new name with the launch of Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino. After an extensive $7 million renovation, Affinity Gaming will complete the renovation project by transitioning Terrible's Hotel & Casino into a new era with the Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino. The recent property enhancements will include new furniture and
bathroom fixtures in all hotel rooms, a fully renovated William Hill sports book, a new casino bar, the addition of a new hospitality suite and a new players club/welcome center combination. 


sbe, an industry-leading creative hospitality company that develops, manages and operates award-winning hotels, restaurants and nightlife, has kicked off the extensive  renovation that is slated to open in fall 2014. The redevelopment of SLS Las Vegas is expected to infuse $400 million into the local economy, as well as create a projected 8,600 direct and indirect jobs.  


Genting Group Chairman KT Lim announced plans for a transformational new development project at the former Echelon site along the Las Vegas Strip. Genting announced it has acquired the 87-acre parcel from Boyd Gaming Corporation, which will be the future site of Resorts World Las Vegas, Genting's first destination resort in Las Vegas. Resorts World Las Vegas will be a world-class, Asian-themed destination resort with 3,500 rooms in the first phase, as well as 175,000 square feet of total gaming space across several gaming floors and numerous luxury dining and retail amenities. The resort will also include additional convention space for Las
Vegas trade shows, helping the city attract international business travelers with a distinct focus on business-to-business events and conferences. It is expected to open in 2016. 


Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced a collaboration with nightlife impresario Victor Drai to launch an intimate urban resort at the location of the former Bill's Gamblin'
Hall & Saloon in the heart of the Strip. The boutique hotel project is scheduled to open in early 2014 following a $185 million renovation. Featuring 188 Parisian apartment-style guest rooms, including 19 suites, the property will be designed by Tandem Las Vegas. An intimate lobby space will welcome guests upon arrival, with a redesigned lobby bar, ultra-lounge, retail outlets and 40,000-square-foot casino. A destination restaurant overlooking the Strip will round out the guest experience. Gansevoort Las Vegas will also feature Drai's Beach Club and Nightclub, which is Drai's reinvention of Las Vegas nightlife featuring a 65,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor nightclub and rooftop pool experience. 


MGM Resorts International and AEG announced the companies have entered into an agreement to pursue the development of a privately funded, 20,000-seat indoor arena on land located west of the Las Vegas Strip, between New York-New York and Monte Carlo. The new arena will be capable of hosting boxing and various sporting events, major headline entertainment and other special events. The overall project will involve new retail shops, dining and entertainment offerings, both between the two properties and along the resort's frontage on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.


Elevating the guest experience at one of the world's most iconic resorts, Bellagio completed a remodel of all 928 rooms and suites in its Spa Tower. Additionally, the resort introduced three new Executive Parlor Suites designed with entertainment and technology in mind. The 2,500-square-foot suites each feature a billiards lounge and separate high-tech home theater living area inviting guests to host intimate, yet interactive events in a vibrant setting. 


Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is partnering with some of the leading brands in hospitality to redefine the resort experience with a property-wide transformation. The 120-acre resort is collaborating with brands such as Morgans Hotel Group, Cirque du Soleil and The Light Group to refocus the spotlight on the property where guests shed the tourist mentality and envelop themselves in the "Resortist" experience. As part of the transformation, Mandalay Bay has introduced new and soon-to-be revealed amenities, including restaurants, a visionary nightclub
experience, a dynamic dayclub, a new show from Cirque du Soleil centered around the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and Delano Las Vegas, a new all-suite boutique hotel within the resort. 


Lexington by Vantage, a collection of inns, hotels and suites, is pleased to announce that the award-winning The D Las Vegas on the world-famous Fremont Street Experience has joined the brand making the property a Lexington Legacy hotel. Its owners have now chosen to affiliate with the Lexington Legacy brand, which allows The D to maintain its name and independence while enjoying the comprehensive resources of Lexington's parent company, Vantage Hospitality, which has more than 1,000 hotels worldwide. 


The former Imperial Palace has transformed into The Quad Resort & Casino, with comfortable rooms at the heart of the strip and where one is sure to find everything they need for a complete vacation.  The newly renovated property has more than 2,500 rooms, many restaurants including Hash House A Go Go, and a pool that mimics a tropical hideaway. 




Legendary pop icon Britney Spears has captivated the world with show stopping performances for over 15 years.  Now Britney launches her most spectacular show ever at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas. "Britney: Piece of Me" is a celebration of one of the most illustrious careers in music history, featuring 20 worldwide smashes from one of the most iconic
artists ever to grace the stage. Audiences will be thrilled as Britney re-imagines her greatest past performances and offers a glimpse of brand new material from her highly-anticipated eighth studio album. 


The estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil present Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Directed by Jamie King, Michael Jackson ONE is the second creative project to be developed between Cirque du Soleil and the estate after the top-grossing Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, currently playing arenas in Europe as it travels the world. 


Zarkana, the surreal acrobatic spectacle by Cirque du Soleil is the resident show at ARIA Resort & Casino.  The show follows Zark, the ringmaster of an extraordinary circus coming back to life, as he guides guests through an abandoned theatre populated by a motley collection of off-the-wall characters and incomparable acrobats. Zarkana is a visual vortex set in a twisted acrobatic fantasy universe where, little by little, chaos and craziness ive way to celebration. 


The Mirage now features a show that crosses countless generations with one of the most
iconic R&B groups in music history. Boyz II Men can be seen weekend nights in Las Vegas, performing some of their most famous songs. The group recently celebrated their 20 year anniversary, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The show features both the old
and new and showcases all that the Men have to offer.  


Recycled Percussion continues to rock the Las Vegas Strip at The Quad Resort & Casino. Produced by one of Las Vegas' most highly-regarded producers, David Saxe, the new Recycled Percussion is the most impressive performance yet. The show has been rocking the Las Vegas Strip for more than two years with an unprecedented combination of extreme percussion, engaging humor and extraordinary athleticism. Whether playing on buckets, ladders, grinders or
sinks, Recycled Percussion's boundless energy and creativity blow audiences away. 




The newest restaurant to open at the Hard Rock Hotel is Fu.  Meaning "luck" in English, Fu features a fusion of Asian fare with authentic Chinese cuisine. Executive Chef Ming See Woo creates a menu that is fit for both casual and adventurous guests. One is in for a unique culinary experience at Fu that provides both good fortune and great food. 


The first-ever Nobu Hotel, Restaurant and Lounge has been opened by Caesars Palace. With a worldwide following and a global presence it is, without a doubt, of compelling interest
to an international audience. The 11,200-square-foot Nobu restaurant and lounge, located in the heart of the Nobu Hotel, is the ideal destination to be seen, to socialize, and to enjoy the unique cuisine of celebrated Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The restaurant offers several teppanyaki tables, sushi bar and private dining area along with a large lounge and bar boasting 327 seats. 


Paris Las Vegas opened Chef Gordon Ramsay's first Las Vegas restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Steak. This dynamic new addition to Ramsay's profound collection of restaurants offers the freshest seafood to mouth-watering cuts of beef, French-influenced sides and delicious desserts. Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace and Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino are now also open. The debut of Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace and Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino marks three Gordon Ramsay restaurants in Las Vegas in less than a year and expands the renowned chef's relationship with Caesars Entertainment Corp. 


The Light Group continues to redefine the Las Vegas food and beverage scene with the Japanese restaurant, Kumi at Mandalay Bay. Helmed by Chef Akira Back, Kumi offers fun and approachable Japanese cuisine for an American palate, while using fresh and innovative ingredients. 


Renowned Chef Daniel Boulud has announced that The Venetian Las Vegas will be home for his popular New York City restaurant, DBGB Kitchen & Bar, described as "French brasserie meets American tavern." 


Masaharu Morimoto, renowned Japanese chef and star of Food Network's "Iron Chef America," will bring his passion for cooking to the Las Vegas Strip with the opening of Morimoto Las
, a new Japanese restaurant at The Mirage. Slated to open in early 2014, Morimoto Las Vegas will feature the contemporary Japanese cuisine and signature sushi that has earned Chef
Morimoto worldwide acclaim.  


Buddy Valastro, the star of the hit TLC series "Cake Boss," has opened his first restaurant in Las Vegas. Buddy V's is located in The Venetian Las Vegas and is inspired by Valastro's family gatherings and the beloved recipes passed down by his mother, grandmother and aunts. The menu at Buddy V's offers new twists on Italian-American classics, as well as Valastro's family favorites. Staying true to Buddy's baking roots, Buddy V's also boasts an impressive dessert selection of timeless treats, such as zeppole, cannoli and the world-famous lobster tail pastry. 


PRESS, Four Seasons Las Vegas' eagerly anticipated indoor/outdoor bar, serves up fun food and drink offerings morning through late night. When the sun sets on the Las Vegas Strip, the spirited environment at PRESS provides a lively space to connect before or after a show or a night on the town. Mingle bar-side or on the patio, which features a sleek, neutral color palate, two gas fire pits and comfortable sofa seating. In addition to draft beer and wines by
the glass, a team of experienced mixologists create hand-crafted, speakeasy cocktails, a tasty array of small plates inspired by seasonal American favorites and whimsical desserts. 


The D Las Vegas eagerly welcomed Joe Vicari's Andiamo Steakhouse to the newly renovated hotel and casino. Often named "Best Italian" within metro Detroit, the popular restaurant features homemade Italian breads and award-winning sauces atop handmade pasta. Vicari's philosophy, originating from the late Master Chef Aldo Ottaviani, is to buy the freshest ingredients and prepare them from scratch every day. 




DAYLIGHT Beach Club at Mandalay Bay is a revolutionary open-air entertainment and nightlife destination that transports guests from the hustle and bustle of the Strip to an upscale and chic tropical oasis. With inspiration drawn straight from the sands of Ibiza, DAYLIGHT Beach Club brings sophistication, high-energy entertainment, fine cuisine, innovative technology and world-renowned DJs to Las Vegas. 


Wet ‘n' Wild Las Vegas has returned to southern Nevada. This premier park has more than 25 stimulating slides and attractions, ranging from thrilling waterslides to docile family-friendly play areas. 




Caesars Palace has opened a new lineup of stores in the newly remodeled Appian Way Shops.
Spanning more than 22,000 square feet, the new Appian Way Shops features more than 15 distinctive stores. One-of-a-kind stores such as Bottlehood, HOME and Jimmy Crystal have opened their flagship U.S. locations at Appian Way Shops, while brands like King Baby and P!Q are making their Las Vegas debuts.  




The Light Group returns to its revolutionary nightlife roots through a new collaboration with Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts International. LIGHT at Mandalay Bay is the first-ever nightclub turned on by Cirque du Soleil, merging cutting-edge creativity with incredible music producing a new kind of nightlife experience.  This chic, fashion-forward 38,000-square-foot venue will feature state-of-the-art production, theatrics and world-renowned DJs and performers. 


Envisioned and created by Hakkasan Ltd. and partners Angel Management Group (AMG), Hakkasan Las Vegas is a five-level culinary and nightlife mecca at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. The popular venue is a bold evolution of the prestigious global restaurant brand into an all-encompassing nightlife experience. This one-of-a-kind place showcases a unique convergence of dramatic design, modern Cantonese cuisine, world-class mixology and exclusive collaborations with in-demand artists across numerous genres. 




The Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas presents a new rollercoaster with negative G drops, gravity-defying turns and over-the-edge twists! Only the second of its kind in the United States, El Loco, The Adventuredome's soon-to-be newest roller coaster, will offer thrill seekers a unique and exhilarating ride experience guaranteed to excite all.  


Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has announced it will develop an exciting new thrill ride called VooDoo Skyline. The exhilarating attraction will deliver a Las Vegas experience unlike any other - sending guests soaring higher than 400 feet in the air at electrifying speeds, offering 360-degree open-air views of the Las Vegas Strip. The one-minute and 10-second zip ride will take off from VooDoo Lounge, located atop Rio's 50-story Masquerade tower, sending guests cascading more than 800 feet to the Ipanema tower and reaching speeds up to 33 miles per hour. VooDoo Skyline will accommodate up to two riders at one time and will have a unique
feature - on the return trip, guests will ride an additional 800 feet to the starting point facing backwards, a total ride of nearly one-third of a mile. 


Fremont Street Experience has announced the creation of "SlotZilla," the world's first powered-launch zipline attraction, to be built in downtown Las Vegas. SlotZilla will be a two-level thrill ride. Riders on the upper four ziplines will take off approximately 100 feet above ground. Riders, lying flat in a harness, will be launched to a speed that will zoom them 1,700 feet under the Fremont Street Experience canopy.  Riders on the lower four ziplines will take off approximately 70 feet above ground and zip 800 feet to a mid-point landing platform. 


Meetings and Conventions


The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority unveiled its plans for the Las Vegas Global Business District, an overarching vision for the Las Vegas Convention Center and the surrounding area. The Las Vegas Global Business District will create an international business destination by incorporating major renovations of the Las Vegas Convention Center, leverage the World Trade Center designation and develop transportation connectivity through a centralized hub. Plans call for the Las Vegas Global Business District to be developed in phases over several
years. The first phase, to begin over the next two years, will include programming and design, the development of overall budget, improvements to the current space at the Las Vegas Convention Center and land acquisition. 




McCarran International Airport recently opened its newest terminal, T3.  With 1.9 million square
feet divide  into three levels, the new terminal is equipped with 14 new gates, seven of which can handle direct international flights. The baggage claim area handles the needs of up to 16 gates and allows traffic from the D gates to be diverted to avoid congestion during peak hours. With this new state of the art terminal, travel to Las Vegas just got easier.
