Caesars Entertainment's Linq Project to Revitalize Las Vegas Strip
Owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation, The Linq, a $550 million retail, dining, entertainment and hospitality district is being created to revitalize and re-define the center-resort corridor. The Linq will span more than 200,000 square feet directly facing Caesars Palace. The focal point will be a giant observation wheel - The Las Vegas High Roller. The wheel will be the tallest in the world, at 550 feet, with 28 cabins accommodating up to 40 people each. On The Linq's north side, a guest walk path will lead from the Carnaval Court outdoor plaza at Harrah's Las Vegas resort through the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino and to The Linq. A pedestrian connection also will be
built from The Linq into Flamingo Las Vegas on the south. The Linq enhancements will completely transform the facade, porte cochere, casino and hotel reception areas of the Imperial Palace. The Linq will break ground in the fourth quarter this year. The Linq retail, dining and entertainment experience is scheduled to open in 2013. For more

Binion's Gambling Hall Celebrates 60 Years
Binion's Gambling Hall, one of Las Vegas' longest operating casinos, achieved another milestone when the legendary property reached its 60th anniversary. Benny Binion opened the Horseshoe Club in 1951 and went on with his family to revolutionize the ways in which casinos operated, setting standards which are still abided by today. Benny Binion introduced high stakes gambling to Las Vegas, setting the craps limit at $500, ten times higher than any other casino in Las Vegas, when The Horseshoe first opened. He went on to raise the limit to $10,000 and eventually eliminated the limit altogether at times. Binion's was the first place in Las Vegas to offer free drinks to players, to pick up
customers by limousine from the airport, and to offer 10 times odds on craps. Plus, in an effort to keep the players cool and comfortable, Binion's was the first fully air conditioned casino, the first fully carpeted casino and was home to the first electrically powered elevator. Benny Binion hosted the first World Series of Poker in 1970 at the property, laying the groundwork for the mega-events of today.
