ANNUAL EVENTS

Southern Nevada is renowned for its non-stop gaming excitement, thrilling nightlife and spectacular lights.  But Southern Nevada has also gained a reputation as a prime place for special events beyond the requisite boxing title fight.  Visitors can sit ringside at National Finals Rodeo, meet celebrity chefs at Vegas Uncork'd, or enjoy the action at a multitude of collegiate and professional athletic events.  Some of the more high-profile annual events include:

 

JANUARY:

Mesquite Motor Mania Classic Car Show - January 18-20, 2013

Mesquite Motor Mania attracts vehicles of all years, makes and models from surrounding states. The event is sponsored by the Mesquite Resort Association; CasaBlanca; Oasis; Eureka; Virgin River and presented by the Las Vegas Cruisin' Association. FEBRUARY:

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Launch Event - February 2013

Las Vegas will host a series of events throughout the destination and across the U.S. to celebrate the launch of the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit franchise, including the annual, marquee consumer-facing Club SI Swimsuit event. Plans are underway for multiple days of events in the "Entertainment Capital of the World" featuring the SI Swimsuit models from the 2012 issue. USA Sevens Rugby Tournament - February 8-10, 2013

The USA Sevens Rugby tournament returns to Las Vegas for a multi-year commitment at Sam Boyd Stadium. The annual tournament draws thousands of international fans. Rugby "sevens" consists of seven players to a team, and is a fast-paced game which features some of the world's most elite athletes. The annual tournament is the fourth stop on the International Rugby Board World Series.

 

Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Soccer Tournament - February 15-18

The City of Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Showcase, is a youth soccer tournament co-hosted by the City of Las Vegas and Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club, Feb. 15-18. For the 13th year in a row the Showcase tournament brings together more than 350 teams from around the world to play before college coaches and recruiters.

 

MARCH:

NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend - March 8-10, 2013

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway will once again host NASCAR weekend. Events include Pole Day for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Kobalt Tools 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. For more information, please visit http://www.lvms.com/.

West Coast Conference Basketball Championships -March 6-11, 2013

For the fourth consecutive year, the WCC will hold its premier event at a neutral site. The WCC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships moved to The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas in 2009. For more information, please visit http://www.wccsports.com/.

 

Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament - March 12-16, 2013

The Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament will take place at the Orleans Arena March 12-16, as 16 teams battle for two chances to "Advance to the Dance."

 

2013 Conoco Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships - March 12-16, 2013

The Conoco Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships will be held at Thomas & Mack Center and will feature all 18 men's and women's teams competing for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  For more information, visit http://www.themwc.com/.

 

Pacific Athletic Conference Championships - March 13-16, 2013

The PAC 12 Basketball Championships will move to Las Vegas for the first time in 2013 featuring 12 teams in both men's and women's teams competing for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Big League Weekend - March16-17, 2013

Major League Baseball will once again return to the Silver State with exhibition games featuring the Chicago Cubs versus the Texas Rangers on March 16 and 17 at Cashman Field.

 

 

APRIL:

NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals -April  2013

Every April and October, the top drag racers in the world converge at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for two of the major races on the NHRA Drag Racing Series.

 

47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards - April 7, 2013

Country music's biggest stars will gather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards show April 7. The annual awards honor the top artists in country music every year.

 

Annual UNLVino Wine Festival April 18- 21 2013

Nevada's largest and oldest wine festival, UNLVino, celebrates with three nights of extraordinary champagnes, sakes, world-class wines, award-winning cocktails and craft beer. The event will raise funds for hospitality student scholarships at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. UNLVino kicks off with Bubble-Licious, a celebration of champagne. The following evening, Japanese Brew Masters serve more than 100 premium sakes. The weekend culminates with The Grand Tasting.

 

Laughlin River Run - April 24-28, 2013

More than 60,000 bikers roar into Laughlin each year for the largest Harley-Davidson ride-in rally in the West.

 

MAY:

Vegas Uncork'd - May 9-12, 2013

Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appétit returns for its seventh annual event, May 9-12, 2013. The four-day extravaganza held each Mother's Day weekend draws the world's culinary superstars while celebrating Las Vegas as a global culinary destination with truly international appeal. The roster of events includes returning favorites such as Masters' Series Dinners and the Grand Tasting; Wine Immersion; and the Celebrity Chef Poker Tournament.


Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship - May 4, 2013
The Supercross Series is an off-road motorcycle race at Sam Boyd Stadium. Widely regarded as the king of extreme sports, Monster Energy Supercross Finals is considered the NASCAR of motocross. Las Vegas Helldorado Days - May 16-20, 2013

A Las Vegas tradition since 1934, Helldorado Days recaptures the spirit of the Old West.
Helldorado features a PRCA rodeo, spectacular parade, western village, poker and golf tournaments and a host of other events.

 

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards to Air Live From Las Vegas - May 19, 2013

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards will air live from Las Vegas, in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The show is scheduled for May and will become one of the most important music forums for artists on television. Top artists will be recognized in a variety of genres including R&B, Rap, Pop, Country, Rock, Latin and Alternative. 

Mesquite Amateur Golf Championship - May 27-31 2013

Now in its 11th year, the Mesquite Amateur is one of the nation's largest amateur golf tournaments. A 54-hole net championship allows players from different genders, age groups and handicap ranges to compete against each other.

 

JUNE:

Electric Daisy Carnival - June 21-23, 2013

The 17th annual Electric Daisy Carnival, North America's largest electronic music festival, will return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for three nights of world-class performances June 21-23. This year's event will transform the Speedway into a completely interactive carnival experience featuring an additional 500 theatrical performers, including fire twirlers, aerialists, dancers, and stilt walkers, plus numerous full size amusement rides and attractions that are free for all ticket holders. The 1,000-acre complex will become a fully immersive audiovisual experience with dynamic large-scale art installations creating interactive environments amidst the seven stages, along with state-of-the-art lighting and sound production and a pyrotechnics display nightly.

 

FSE Vegas Cruise - June 2013

The 13th Annual Vegas Cruise will roll into downtown at the Fremont Street Experience. An estimated 200 pre-1972 show quality cars will be on display. Participants spend the day under the canopy displaying their vehicles and then dance the night away to free concerts featuring the classic tunes of the 50s & 60s.

 

NHL Returns to Host its Annual Awards in Las Vegas - June 2014

The National Hockey League will host its 2013 Awards in Las Vegas in June. The 2014 NHL Awards celebration will feature the League naming its top players for the regular season in a host of categories including, most valuable player, outstanding goaltender, outstanding defenseman and outstanding rookie.

 

JULY:

Rockets Over the River - July 4, 2013

The annual Independence Day fireworks show in Laughlin is open to the public at no cost with viewing space available along the entire Laughlin River Walk.  Choreographed music simulcast by Laughlin resorts and radio stations surround the town and accompany the patriotic pyrotechnics.

NBA Summer League - July 12-22, 2013

The 2013 NBA Summer League will again return to Las Vegas. The 2012 session featured a record 24 teams competing in a 60-game schedule at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  Some of the previous teams that have participated are Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.

Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event - September 2013

Collector car auctions have enjoyed mainstream popularity in the past few years thanks in large part to Barrett-Jackson. Now the famous auction company will come to Las Vegas for an auction event featuring approximately 600 classic cars at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Cars range from muscle cars to pre-war antiques.

 

OCTOBER:

Shriners Hospital for Children Open (PGA Tour) -October 2013

Top PGA Tour golfers compete in Las Vegas for one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour. The action takes place at TPC Summerlin and features professional and pro-am competitions, celebrity events and a kids clinic. For more information, visit http://www.jtshrinersopen.com/.


NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series - October 2013

The sheer power and speed of the NHRA returns to Las Vegas for 23 races, it features the top drag racers in the world at the 13th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals. Professional Bull Riders World Finals - October 23-27, 2013

The 2013Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler will showcase the greatest bull riding athletes in Las Vegas at Thomas & Mack Center. This event features eight rounds of competition, 45 of the world's bravest professional bull riders and 300 of the toughest bucking bulls on the planet.

 

NOVEMBER:

Latin GRAMMY Awards - November 21, 2013

The 14th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards will heat up Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center as today's hottest Latin artists take center stage. This marks the fourth time Las Vegas will host the international showcase of Latin music. Additionally, The Latin Recording Academy®, Univision, The Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announce a new multiyear partnership, making this year the third in a three-year agreement. Univision and the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino will be the home of the Latin GRAMMYs through 2012.

 

Las Vegas to Host NASCAR 2013 Champion's Week - November 2013

Las Vegas is the host city for this year's NASCAR Champion's Week festivities, which culminates with the 2013 Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony. The festivities will kick off with the NASCAR Pit Stop Tour at various locations along the Strip. All 12 Chase participants will drive in a Victory Lap Parade on Las Vegas Boulevard or "The Strip" for a "burnout" by the champion.

 

Wendy's 3 Tour Challenge - November 2013

Since 1992, the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge has been the only professional golf tournament that pits three players from the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours against each other in competitive, head-to-head threesomes for Tour bragging rights. Each threesome consists of one player from each Tour competing in two separate, nine-hole stroke play matches.

 

Rock ‘n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon & Half Marathon -November 17, 2013

Rock ‘n' Roll Las Vegas is now part of the Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series, a national series of musically themed marathons and half marathons. The concept combines live entertainment with 26.2- and 13.1-mile race courses starting on Las Vegas Boulevard near Mandalay Bay. The race draws more than 30,000 runners and walkers and includes run-through weddings and running Elvis excitement. The Miss Rodeo America Pageant is held annually in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Fremont Street Experience hosts its annual 12-day Holiday Festival each December featuring millions of twinkling lights, a classic Santa with sassy showgirls and live world-class entertainment. NFR Cowboy Christmas Gift Show - December 5-14, 2013

The Cowboy Christmas Gift Show, the longest-running and only official gift show of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, returns to Las Vegas with more wares to keep even the most avid shopper entertained all ten days. Conveniently located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the show floor spans more than 300,000 square feet and includes more than 400 vendors selling jewelry, western wear, boots, art and much more.


Las Vegas Bowl - December 21, 2013
The Las Vegas Bowl features the second selection from the Mountain West Conference and the fifth selection from the Pac-10 Conference.  The game is televised nationally on ESPN from Sam Boyd Stadium. America's Party: Las Vegas New Year - December 31, 2013

America's Party is the official moniker coined by the LVCVA and Las Vegas Events to signify the annual citywide celebration of New Year's Eve. Festivities include a themed fireworks extravaganza on the Las Vegas Strip and live concerts and fireworks under the canopy at the Fremont Street Experience.
