Funding & Finance
The LVCVA's primary source of revenue is provided by room taxes. All hotel, motel, and other transient lodging establishments in Clark County are assessed a room tax. The total tax on rooms in Clark County averages 9%. The room tax is collected from the individual lodging property by the governmental jurisdiction in which the property is located. The governing entity of that jurisdiction then distributes the proceeds between the LVCVA and various governmental organizations throughout the county and state.
To promote tourism in rural Nevada, .375% is allocated to the Nevada Commission on Tourism. With the ever expanding resident base of Las Vegas and Clark County, 1.625% is devoted to the Clark County School District, and another one percent is allocated to the Clark County Department of Transportation and is dedicated for road construction. Distribution of the remaining room tax percentage depends on where the property is located and the specific classification of the property.
